Use a componentized build system to automatically port Java™ projects with native extensions on heterogeneous UNIX® platforms. Today, many large-scale Java systems running on UNIX-like platforms require third-party native library support, or you have to develop your own native components. Many utilities and system calls on these platforms do not have corresponding Java wrappers. The standard Perl distribution comes with a debugger, although it's really just another Perl program, perl5db.pl. Since it is just a program, I can use it as the basis for writing my own debuggers to suit my needs, or I can use the interface perl5db.pl provides to configure its actions.
